2013 School Program

On May 26, 2013, the 6th annual Envision Financial Run for Water will be held in Abbotsford. The Envision Financial Run for Water is a premier community running event open to individuals of all ages and abilities. The goal is to promote physical fitness, community spirit, and raise funds for clean water development. In 2012, we had 4,300 participants, over 1,000 of which were children under the age of 18. Over $250,000 was raised for clean water projects in the Bonke region of Ethiopia, with 25% of that amount being raised by the tremendous efforts of students from local schools!

This year, 30 schools in the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland are taking part in the Envision A Better World: Learn, Create, Run program. In doing so, their students will learn about global water issues, through engaging presentations and educational resources linked to BC Ministry outcomes, while realizing their potential to positively impact the lives of others.  Assemblies, school-based mini-runs and fundraising awards are among the exciting opportunities for participating schools. In addition, students will have the opportunity to register for the 2013 5K Fun Run at a reduced cost.  Although assembly bookings and registration discounts are limited to schools that sign up, interested teachers are encouraged to use the free educational resources available online.

The cause: Roughly 80% of Ethiopians require improved drinking water facilities. Envision Financial Run For Water partners with an experienced development agency, HOPE International Development Agency, an organization that works to bring clean water systems to villagers in Ethiopia currently living without access to clean water. It has been calculated that $35 will give one African child clean water for life.

Join us in this cause. Get your students involved in the Envision a Better World: Learn, Create, Run program!
